"Berg clearly has a grip on the structure of the story: it is simple, clear-cut, and efficient. The various storylines are skilfully woven together, all elements coming together nicely and propelling the story full of momentum to a firmly set climax. Berg gives you flesh-and-blood characters worth following. Strong debut that reminded me of the work of Peter Schaap and James Clemens in terms of atmosphere and elaboration of the characters. Delicious read
"The writing style is nice and smooth. And rough. Pain, blood, and horror are not shunned, and the story is told at a fast pace. So, no bland or sweet narration. Great, for instance, are the descriptions of how it feels when evil takes possession of a person. The main characters are all very well portrayed. You empathise with them from the start and they all have depth and a nice development. Many side characters are also very interesting. And all the lines plotted come together nicely."

Super exciting with lots of action
"Lupidae is a very well-written book. A lot happens during the search for the magic gem. It couldn't be otherwise with a war raging in the background. Of course, the book is about the quest for magic and overcoming evil. But it is also about overcoming yourself. Birgit Berg portrays some very powerful women in this book. And the fact that the main character is thirteen years old does not detract from the readability for adults. A children's book it is clearly not. The book remains captivating until the end. And personally, I think the author has put down a brilliant ending. You actually want to start part 2 right away."

Highly recommended
"Drachion is another delightful read. Once again, you enjoy the cold-blooded warrior Jhon and the hot-tempered Ri'shana. Syribil matures into a young woman who chooses her own path. The fact that the choices she makes are not always wise and provoke annoyance of her companions only adds to the strength of the story. Syribil's search for a balance between her own needs, and those of the beast that resides within her, give her character an extra dimension. It also makes for a highly original twist at the end of the book..."

"This second part of the Magia Trilogy is a worthy successor to the first part. More than that. It is a well-written story, with great characters and interesting twists and turns that makes you want more. The world created is real, has depth and background. The magical Drachion is well thought out and beautifully described. Kudos to the author's imagination. The new character Shadi is also an asset. From the first page, he is intriguing, and you empathise with him. This book has everything: round and recognisable characters, pace, suspense, revenge, betrayal, magic, love, doubts, engaging relationships and a curiosity-inducing ending."

Read breathlessly in one sitting
"Drachion is highly recommended! The adventures are again super exciting and compellingly written. The book picks up where Lupidae leaves off and is therefore not a standalone read. But you don't want that anyway! In Drachion, the picture becomes more and more complete and engaging, also because of the way you get to know the main characters and the development they go through. Drachion has nice but also unexpected twists and turns. The Drachion is a magical creature that is very nicely worked out. Birgit Berg has again chosen an ending that makes you want to go straight on to the next part."

Simply a great book
"Ekvilibro, like the previous volumes, is a book you will read in one go. This is partly due to Birgit Berg's smooth writing style. The nice thing about this book is that Syribil has grown so much that she finally starts making her own decisions. I would have liked to have read a bit more about the battle between Lumo and Mallumo and, of course, the Lupidae. Still, it doesn't take away from the fact that this is just a fantastic book. One that should be read!"

Berg does not disappoint
"In Ekvilibro, the protagonists continue to grow, and new characters make their appearance. In this volume too, the author manages to maintain the tension. And how! It is a wonderfully exciting book, where you really become one with the main characters. And sometimes that is no fun! There are also some situations in the book that you don't see coming... Birgit Berg's writing style is very enjoyable to read, clear, without too much fuss. That also makes me feel ambivalent about this last part. Because although it does bring closure, the book also leaves a lot open. And if I have to be honest, I don't want this to be the last part. Because there are still so many characters I want to know more about..."

"With Ekvilibro, Birgit Berg has written an impressive finale to the Magia Trilogy. As in the first two books in the series, 'Lupidae' and 'Drachion', she manages to create a real-life magical world. Storytelling she can do! The big question in the story always remains whether the Ekvilibro, the Balance, between good and evil will be restored. This leads to a thrilling climax. I won't say anything else about the story and the denouement, you'll have to read it yourself! You won't regret that."
